Curbside Recycling in Fort St. John In response to increased volume and demand, the Fort St. John Eco-Depot is starting its own curbside collection pilot project in the Energetic City. Residents living on 108th Ave and north will have the opportunity to participate. The service will run from October to December. The success of the program will determine whether the service will be extended to the rest of the city. The collection is convenient and easy to use: for a monthly charge of $15, recyclables will be collected every other week, on the same day as regular trash collection. Eco-Depot will be using a blue-bag system. Registration in the program includes a starter-kit with blue bags and collection and sorting guidelines. For more information: (250) 785-0300. Story of Stuff We didn't make this. We wish we did, truly, but unfortunately we can't take one lick of credit for this website. Or for the video on the website. Nuts. In the spirit of sustainable living everywhere, however, we'd like to encourage you to visit Story of Stuff, watch the video, and take some time to click around and check out the incredible wealth of links and information compiled by Annie Leonard: From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It'll teach you something, it'll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever. July pRRRdy Says... Newsletter. WHERE ARE THE BINS?!? Fort St. John residents who have recently taken their recyclables to their favourite drop-off bin location are likely to have noticed that, well...the bins are gone! If you are one of these would-be recyclers, please DON'T PANIC! Fort St. John has not abandoned recycling, we've just moved the drop-off point. All recyclable materials can now be dropped off at one convenient location: the ECO-DEPOT, at 10107-94 Avenue. The ECO-DEPOT will be using new bins, and they have made a few changes to the "sort": Paper (all types); Plastic&Milk Containers; Tin/Aluminum; GLass. pRRRdy and the ECO-DEPOT know that this is a big change, and we of course anticipate that it will take a while for everyone to get used to the new arrangement, so we greatly appreciate your patience while we work to ensure that everything operates as smoothly as possible!
