The BC Materials Exchange (BC MEX) is a service operated by Recycling Council of British Columbia (RCBC) designed to encourage the transfer of reusable "waste" materials to another user, as an alternative to disposal. The BC MEX can help the waste generator save on disposal costs-and help the new owner save money on purchasing. It's a winning situation for both parties! And that's just the beginning. People have developed entire new product lines and business opportunities based on discarded materials. What hidden treasure will YOU find?! How Does it Work? Think of the MEX as a dating service for wastes. If your organization produces a material that you think may be appealing to someone else for its re-use potential, you contact the MEX. Sometimes a "match" can be made immediately. Where there is no immediate match, the MEX staff will try to find a user for your material through research. Whether it's materials you want to get rid of, or materials you want to get a hold of, the BC MEX can make it happen. And it's Free to Use! The Materials Exchange is able to remain a free service, thanks, in part, to the support of PRRD. The BC MEX will list your materials in the catalogue, at no cost to you, until a match is found. Contacting the BC MEX: Call toll-free 1-800-667-4321 Monday to Friday, 9:00a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (PST) or on line at RCBC |
