Dont Dump Your Drugs! There is a much better way to dispose of your old medications rather than throwing them into the landfill or down the toilet. You can take out-dated or unused medications to your local pharmacy. Most provincial pharmacies are part of the Medications Return Program. All of the pharmacies in Peace River Regional District are part of this program.

Medications Return Program Pharmaceuticals are a small but very important component of the waste steam affecting every household in British Columbia. Unused pharmaceuticals pose a significant health, safety and environmental hazard when improperly stored or disposed into the environment. Medications Return Program began in November 1996. The pharmaceutical industry voluntarily decided to be more environmentally responsible by establishing a program designed for the safe disposal of old medications . This is called product stewardship industry finding solutions to household hazardous wastes.
